Hey! Hola! Hello!
Come and watch the circus! Its here in town but its not going to leave anytime soon!!
Have a look, not necessarily a close one and you will discover a mess.. a total mess.
The streets are cramming with cars from all sorts, sizes, colors and in an array of used status.
Traffic in Cairo is on and everyone is definitely out …for good. It is a challenge for the intellectual mind.
Ladies and Gentlemen, hook your seat belts; it’s a ride you are bound will never forget.
Everyone in Cairo is certainly taken by the intensity of the streets, the loudness of the horns, the zigzags of the taxis, minibuses and the obvious malpractices of the larger buses not to mention people driving aimlessly, relentless pedestrians strolling around just to piss off car conductors enjoying their A/C.
What is infinitely charming is that all of the above categories are living in perfect harmony with each other.
On the far side of each street you will find a traffic officer so bewildered about the mess that he is trying in each direction to fill in the gabs ….
In every country in the world you would stick by the road rules no matter where you drive. In Egypt you should always expect the unexpected and bend the road rules to avoid possible catastrophes.
Keeping calm and cool is certainly a trait few people in Cairo believe in. They often express their dissatisfaction for life by honking the horns like crazy and calling each other names. Works for them? May be, may be not….
You know what I am amazed by the people of this country. They cope with each and every situation surrounding them and yet try their best at being happy and cheerful. You will never find that in any country of the world except here…land of the Pharaohs.
